These Australian Government Departments have information related to aquaculture on their web sites. Some provide information sheets on various topics, some talk about current research projects, others provide current production data.
 

Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry - Australia - used to be the Commonwealth Department of Primary Industries and Energy, provides links to many other government departments related to fisheries and aquaculture.

Aquaculture Co-operative Research Centre carries out research for the Australian aquaculture industry. It comprises 13 participating research organisations and 19 industrial participants. Research programs cover 6 areas: health protection and maintenance; nutrition and feed development; finfish propagation; shellfish genetics and reproduction; production efficiency and environmental management; and product technology.

Australian Institute of Marine Science

Bureau of Rural Sciences, Fisheries and Forestry Sciences Division - used to be known as the Bureau of Resource Statistics, provides lots of statistical information and data on fisheries resources and aquaculture.

CSIRO Meat, Dairy and Aquaculture sector - provides info on CSIRO research, news topics and fact sheets.

Environment Australia is the environmental program of the Commonwealth Environment, Sport and Territories Portfolio. The Marine group has set up a page about their coastal and marine programs. There is lots of relevant information under their fisheries topics selections

Fisheries Western Australia - lots of advice and info on aquaculture, research, fish health, licensing and you can subscribe to and get back issues of Western Fisheries magazine.

Northern Territory Department of Primary Industry & Fisheries, Fisheries Department

NSW Fisheries site has Fish Notes and Fish Facts available on line, containing lots of information on aquaculture, licensing, NSW licenced fish farms and commercial and recreational fishing

Department of Primary Industries, Queensland - has links to other useful sites and provides production data

Victorian Department of Natural Resources & Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Department

Primary Industries and Resources, South Australia - navigate through to primary industries section and you can then get information on aquaculture industries and fishing industries in South Australia.

There are many print based journals that you can subscribe to for information about aquaculture, few are Australian, most are American. Here are some links to the web pages of these journals.
Some provide a table of contents online, some have abstracts online and others provide all articles online. Many of these journal sites provide links to other related sites.

Aquaculture Research

Austasia Aquaculture Magazine - the only Australian journal about the aquaculture industry, this site provides summaries of articles appearing in each print based issue, you can also subscribe here

Canadian Journal of Fisheries & Aquatic Sciences - this journal is available in paper and electronic form, whole articles can be downloaded. A search function allows you to search for articles on specific topics.

Maryland Aquafarmer - produced by the University of Maryland, journal issues are online. You can search for articles on any topic from Maryland Aquafarmer and from many other newsletters and reports located on their server.
